The JD4BE course is a stepping-stone between JD3BE and JD5BE. It is an intensive course requiring not only regular class attendance and participation, but also considerable independent study. From JD1BE to JD3BE the course book Complete Advanced was covered.

In JD4BE, (full-time classes) Units 1 to 5 of Objective Proficiency are dealt with. Students will become familiar with advanced grammar and vocabulary, which is taught and tested at the JD4BE level. In addition, Reading, Listening and Speaking skills are practised.  At JD3BE level, Use of English (grammar and vocabulary) as well as Listening and speaking skills were tested. In JD4BE, Use of English as well as Reading and Speaking are tested. (In JD5BE, Use of English, Listening, Reading and Speaking Skills are tested.) The aim of this course is not only to cover the language and skills taught at JD4BE level, but to prepare students to pass the Final Practical Language Exam (FPLE), which is taken in the winter semester of their third year.
