In this course, the theory and problems of structure-property relations of metallic and non-metallic materials will be explained. Description of individual groups of construction materials in terms of their applications. Assessment of possible substitutions of conventional materials with new, mainly composite materials. Characteristics of individual groups in terms of durability, time stability, economic demands and market availability. Students will acquire competences in the field of optimization of material selection for various technical applications.
