Aims: The aim of this course is to improve speaking and listening skills. Activities are selected according to the level of the individual student. Vocabulary will be based on the English vocabulary in use series and selected newspaper articles. Theme and vocabulary presented before each individual class. The general themes are as follows: (relevant materials, as well as the order of their presentation will be selected according to teachers' preferences and students' interests.) Teachers who teach this subject have flexibility within the common theme. However requirements are identical.The course is finished with a credit. To obtain the credit students must:
- Attend and participate in all sessions (two absences are allowed)
- On the final (credit class) each student makes an individual five minute argumentative speech based on one of the topics covered and answers the questions of their peers. -

For the first half of the lesson the class gathers in a circle and the article is read aloud practising correct pronunciation. Vocabulary is explored. Then class splits into groups and role plays the situation. Roles of Appeaser, disciplinarian,bitter educator and truculent student are explored. Four five part plays. Class concludes with refreshing of vocabulary.
